Good Getaway We had a pleasant time, a comfortable room on the top floor with a lovely balcony view of the sunset. The staff is friendly and efficient.

We liked having choices for dining but the reservation system of lining up early in the morning and only being able to book a day ahead was a bit annoying. I would have liked to reserve our choices in one shot. I had a good pedicure at the spa. The buffet and other dining options will please simple tastes. Wine is offered frequently but unfortunately, is not really drinkable. The sparkling wine is a better choice.

We are not big cocktail people but they make good ones. My partner said the beer was not good. The beach grill offers simple freshly prepared food but the chefs were overwhelmed, creating long lines.

We ate at the 'fancy' Italian restaurant which not fancy at all and very loud. Note to chef: the antipasto buffet could be more creative and please, stop putting fried foods on ice! Calamari and fried mushrooms should be served hot and crispy, not cold and soggy. Also, when serving 'fish cooked in a bag' it is customary for the kitchen to slice open the parchment before serving.

We had brunch at Lydia's seafood which was okay, not a whole lot of seafood in the menu. We had dinner at Margarita's which was very pleasant, except for the extremely watery margarita we had at first. The best meal was our dinner on the beach, worth the premium paid. The food was fine but the setting and service (and company!) made it great for our last night. We knew what we were getting and for the value, it was fine.

My partner enjoyed sailing and the beach is lovely. 0 of 0 found this helpful. Beach beach beach Antigua is a beautiful island and #cheapcarribean made our trip smooth. Jolly beach resort staff are very friendly and accommodating. Location is premium. Beach is top rated, clean and great sunset location. Pool was large and there is a quiet pool as well.

Disclaimer

Rooms are dated but beds comfy. Food was good but repetitive. A la cart restaurants easy to book and food is good but some meals add additional price (i.e. Steak, salmon dishes), liquor and beer aren't great and service at the pool bar is poor (you are ignored).

Service at the main bar and water sports center was excellent. Check in & out was a breeze. Stick to using hotel or tour company for excursions rather than local vendors on beach, which actually wake you up to try to sell their goods. 0 of 0 found this helpful. Restfull The first impression was that the hotel is a little tired and the common areas aren't air conditioned. The room was small but the attached patio was beyond wonderful with a view to die for.

The pool was terrific and not crowded. There were as many or as few activists as you could want to do. The staff was excellent and the evening entertainment was varied and fun. I really think this was one of the best beaches in the island. The people of Antigua are friendly and accommodating. 0 of 0 found this helpful. Great stay, best beach ever!

Let’s face it. This resort needs some TLC.

The facilities are outdated and they could really make this place extra special if they simply renovated the bathrooms. But hey, you get what you pay for, right? Just because the facilities aren’t up to date, doesn’t mean that the management and staff overlook cleanliness.

My husband and I didn’t notice one speck of dirt or dust both in the rooms and the public amenities. The resort is super clean and well kept, despite it being old-looking. In fact, there’s some charm to it.

Our room was lovely and fully air conditioned. We had two balconies that overlooked the beach which was spectacular. Once you’re on the beach, you’ll never want to leave. The water is gorgeous and calm, almost like a lake. Help yourself to free kayaking and other non-motorized water sports!

The staff is cordial and genuinely helpful and friendly. The food options are scarce, so make sure you book one of the specialty restaurants in advance for more variety. All in all, we had an excellent time and would definitely go back!

John), or St. Lucia if you don't necessarily need an all inclusive resort.

If you use the gold 'Create Your Own Vacation' box on the home page, select your dates of travel and your destination, you can also select the number of guests traveling and the site will provide you with the resorts that will allow more than two guests in the room. If you are speaking of the Jolly Beach Resort, you might rethink your choice. My wife and I just returned from a week there from 3/22-3/29, and did not see many children. We befriended a 14 year-old, mildly autistic boy from England, who's mother and grandmother brought him there thinking the kid's club and so forth would be fun. He was pretty bored the first couple of days. Then once he got to know the activities' staff and a few guests, he had more fun. The teen/kid's club was non-existent.

Again, we didn't see a whole lot of children or things for them to do. There is a room at the resort they call a casino with a few tables and slots. Rarely saw anyone in there. We took an all day jeep tour that was very interesting and hit all the high points. We also took a catemaren cruise around the island that had an OK snorkeling stop at lunch and a water perspective of the on land sights we visited on the jeep tour.

The jolly beach was all inclusive but not posh by any standard. The side trips were extra. We did not do the rain forrest / zipline but did pass through the area. Something I might have tried in my younger days. We booked a Circumnavigation Island Route that offered snorkeling in Sting Ray City and then we went snorkeling again near Nelson's Dockyard. I am not sure anout walking through the rainforrest, but we took a best of tour which drove through the rainforrest. The Jolly Beach Resort offers quite a bit of daily activities like wind surfing, kayaking, sailing, there are some locals offering activities for a price. The jet skiis were fun, but I would say keep your whits about you regarding some of the others.

There is a small casino at the resort, I didn't see many people using it though. What night life??

They had what I believe was the local high school dance troupe perform one or two nights, (who - in all fairness weren't bad for a high school dance club) and then some questionable talent one man band kinda of thing. We went to the Casino in St. James one night (in all fairness no cruise ship was in port which I am told makes a big difference) and including ourselves and excluding the employees, there were only 4-5 people in the entire place. If you are looking for some high energy entertainment or mainstream, let me know if you find it because we didnt see any. This resort does offer the Jolly Kidz Club offers daytime activities, both outdoors and indoors, for children ages 3-12.

Open Mon-Fri, 9:30am-12:30pm and 2:30pm-5pm; Sat - 10:30am-5pm and the Jolly Teenz Club, for teens ages 13-16, offers a full array of games and activities, both outdoors and indoors. Open Mon - Fri, 9:30am-12:30pm, 2:30pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm; Sat, 10:30am-2:30pm if you are concerned about activities while at this resort. I would suggest calling the resort directly at 1-866-905-6559 for the most up to date information on their lifeguard policies.

Hello, there is one supermarket down by the exit of the resort, however, you have to be aware because they have what their prices are called 'EC' (eastern caribbean) VS US DOLLARS, our prices are about 50% less than theirs but the store is still pretty expensive, Otherwise, I would say pack a bunch of airplane bottles in your big suitcase so you will have them for the room, lol, all they have at the pool bar & restaurant is rum punch, & its all dark rum, no coconut rum, or clear flavored rums, hope this helps. The water is very calm, almost like a lake. My husband and I went in October, so we practically had the beach all to ourselves. There’s several huts, but again, they were always available to us because of the time of year we traveled and the fact that there were few guests staying there. I’m sure during the busy season, it’s not as easy grabbing a hut at your leisure. You can also ask for one of the resorts’ umbrellas that they can stick in the sand for you.

I’m not sure if they cost anything because my husband and i didn’t use one, but I imagine they’re included. Available Amenities.
